SUNDAY MORNING WORSHIP at 10:30 am
Join us for worship to hear a good word from our guest preacher, Rev. Chris Hagen! Chris is a member of Redeemer and a recently retired ELCA pastor. He is active with biking, gardening and recently started helping with the Pizza Oven. You can also catch Chris singing with the Great Northern Union, a barbershop chorus which is performing and singing with us at the Block Party as part of the ChoirsPopping grant!

As always, our Sunday worship will be streaming on Facebook Live for those who are unable to join us in person. View the worship bulletin here. JOIN US FOR OUR FINAL WEDNESDAY EVENING COOKOUT
Wednesday evening cookouts have been incredible this summer! We have enjoyed 100+ each week even amidst heat, rain, and air quality concerns. Next Wednesday, August 2nd, is our FINAL SUMMER COOKOUT, from 6:00 - 8:00pm, and we'll be teaming up with partner congregations and community organizations to serve up food, fun, and fellowship at our weekly backyard cookouts. We need your help to make this finale amazing! Sign up here to volunteer in any of the following capacities:

  • A Core Team Leader who will team with Pastor Jen and Manny to help coordinate

  • Help with set up and clean up before and after the cookout

  • Folks to bring side dishes to share

FOOD MINISTRY FORUM at REDEEMER ~ SUNDAY, AUG 20th, 12-1:30pm
STAY TUNED as we are planning for our community cookouts to continue and be re-imagined for the fall and winter months. If you want to learn more about the NEWLY Forming food ministry at Redeemer, attend a forum after worship on Sunday, August 20th. Learn more, especially if you have a heart for feeding people and dreaming up food solutions! 


BLOCK PARTY PLANNING
We are looking for people to help coordinate the following areas: Welcome/Information Booth, Community Vendors, Kid Zone, Clean up team. Mary Britt will be coordinating the food donations and serving options. If you are interested in assisting please contact Mary at (612) 245-0366. A list of donation opportunities will be communicated within the next few weeks.  We would like to start meeting weekly as we are less than 14 days away from the summer's biggest event!! Call Pastor Jen or follow this link to join the team!


UPDATING BREEZE CHURCH DIRECTORY
It has been awhile since we have updated our Breeze Church Directory, which means that we have a lot of out of date information!
Please help us update you and your family’s information by filling out this Google Form.
If you prefer to provide your information in person, please contact the Church Office (612-886-1468) and ask for Renee. 
We will also be having time after worship on Sunday, August 6th to update your information in person or to ask any questions!

SENDING ALYSSA WITH GRACE
Alyssa Schwitzer, Redeemer's Worship Director, and her spouse Elizabeth are expecting their second child! Join us Sunday, August 13th, as we honor Alyssa, Elizabeth, and big brother Remy and send Alyssa on maternity leave. We celebrate and welcome Traiveon Dunlap as our Interim Worship Director beginning August 20th and continuing through November.

Amy is a graduate of Luther Seminary currently awaiting her first call, and working as our office administrator. She’s preached here a number of times before, so no introduction is needed!

August 27th: Rev. Dr. Jia Starr Brown
Rev. Dr. Jia is a Minneapolis pastor whose experience in community education, engagement, and outreach encompasses more than 20 years. She pastored her community through the events that followed the murder of George Floyd, and she continues to advocate for underrepresented and marginalized communities. Read more about Rev. CHRISTINE BELFREY JOHNSON'S ORDINATION ~
SATURDAY, AUGUST 19, 2023 from 2:00-4:00 PM

We look forward to celebrating Christine Belfrey Johnson, longtime Redeemer and community member on Sunday, August 19th. As her Congregation Home Church, we will be acting as HOST to the guests, family and friends! We are looking for a team of people who can help GREET and HOST the RECEPTION following the service. 

Greeters would help director guests, offering hospitality as they arrive and after service. Reception volunteers would help us decorate, prepare to serve catered appetizers and desserts and drinks. Talk to Pastor Jen if you can help.


WORSHIP ASSISTANTS NEEDED
We are always seeking worship volunteers to serve on Sunday mornings as readers, ushers, greeters, and communion assistants! ADDITIONAL OFFERING COUNTERS NEEDED
Council treasurer Jane Friendsush is looking for volunteers to help count the offering after Sunday Worship once every two months or so. VOLUNTEER NEEDED WEEKLY AT MCCC
Our neighborhood food shelf at MCCC (at the corner of 4th & Newton a block away from Redeemer) provides the community with fresh food weekly. To reduce food waste they've generously offered to give us what they have left to serve at weekly cookouts. We need one volunteer to stop by MCCC each Saturday between noon - 1pm to transport food to Redeemer's fridge. Reach out to Pastor Jen or Amy to help!

RAISING FUNDS FOR RLC/RCFL COMMUNITY MEMBER
We are raising funds to support a former staff member, Jasmine Greene. She is a mother of two young sons and was laid off for the summer from employment as a school bus driver. She was also recently diagnosed with a chronic illness. We want to help her with rent, bills, and groceries for the remainder of the summer until she begins full time work again in the fall. Amy Koopman is collecting donations and forwarding them to Jasmine. SIGN THE HERC COMMUNITY PETITION
Our northside neighbors at the Minnesota Environmental Justice Table are working hard to secure clean water and breathable air for our children, but their work is often an uphill battle. They are currently campaigning to gather signatures to shut down the HERC trash burner a major source of environmental toxins in North Minneapolis. We invite you learn more about the HERC trash incinerator, and sign their petition for Hennepin County to shut it down.


FREE LEGAL CLINIC at HNA
The Harrison Neighborhood Association is working with Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid to provide free legal help every TUESDAY and THURSDAY from 10:00 am - 3:30 pm. They are able to help with family law, consumer, public benefits, housing, tax, and immigration problems. Walk-ins are welcome, however, appointments are preferred. PAID and VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AVALIABLE!
Senior Community Services (SCS) is a 73 year old MN non- profit. Our focus is helping seniors remain independent and stay in their homes! The HOME Program through SCS is hiring people 16 years and older to cut grass and do lawn care for seniors in your neighborhood. Both paid and volunteer opportunities are available!

2023 BLOCK PARTY ~ AUGUST 12th, 12:00 - 4:00 pm

SAVE the DATE: WELCA FALL WOMEN'S GATHERING ~ NOVEMBER 4, 2023
Join WELCA (Women of the ELCA) for their annual Fall Women's Gathering on Saturday, November 4th! The topic this year is Just Love. Participants will learn how to Love in Action and Loving Yourself. If you have any questions about this year's event, feel free to contact Dena.
