This Week  I   Worship  I   Serve  I   Community   I  Save Date

"What we forget, faithwise, in our fear … is that even in the darkest night, when we see no light at all, the light is still there. The sun is still shining over Earth even when our side of Earth rotates away from it. The stars still shine above us, no matter how thick the clouds above our heads."
—Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III

Sending you love this day. May you know you are Beloved - today. tomorrow and always!

I thank you all so very much for the opportunity to take a pause. I am returning from a trip to Albuquerque, New Mexico. It had been 5 years since my parents had seen my eldest (8 year old) in person and first time my littlest could remember meeting them. This a much needed and sacred trip for me. Again much gratitude is given to the Redeemer community who are supporting one another in our journeys.

I worshipped on Sunday with you all from the top of Boca Negra Canyon (see photo above). There is something remarkable and joyful knowing even from great distances we are still together, united by a love so great!

In this rustic little desert park, we hiked up the old inactive volcanic hilltop. This part of the canyon was suppose to be a refreshing 10-15 min. journey. However... along the way were lots of unexpected encounters. Excitement and wonder as we sought out petroglyphs, these symbols and stories carved in stone from indigenous ancestors of the Pueblo, Apache and Navajo. A bit of anxiety and fear popped up (mostly from my kids) as we saw creepy crawlers that were unknown to them. But, then there was the exerted effort needed in the dry heat of the sun to climb up and over large lava rocks. There were tears, but I'll let you guess who shed them.

After all the unexpected along the way, we made it! WE MADE IT! There was indeed jumping, singing and praying in thanksgiving to God who helped us get to where we needed to be safely. There is always a glimmer, a spark, a hope... as Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III says, "even in the darkest night, when we see no light at all, the light is still there. The sun is still shining over Earth even when our side of Earth rotates away from it. The stars still shine above us, no matter how thick the clouds above our heads."

May you all allow yourselves to discover where God is in life's adventures, big and small, laughable and joyful, fearful and tearful. Explore creating spaces that allow you, your family and community to find the light and be the light!
Peace & Blessings,
Pastor Jen Collins (she/her)
